Back pain causes and remedies

Our back is a complex structure of muscles, nerves, bones, and joints. We do some routine work and physical efforts regularly. Sometimes our habit and diet can also be responsible for triggering a back pain. Thus we can’t infer the exact cause of the pain and it becomes difficult to diagnose until we are asked to perform some physical examination followed by some medical tests. In general cases, the back pain doesn't cause any serious damage or disease that can be severe or fatal but yes any physical discomfort can disturb you mentally and physically both. Back pain can be a result of minor sprains, pinched or irritated nerve strains or past injuries.

 Common types of back pain are a result of everyday activities at office/work or home. If you are sitting too much and not exercising at all, you are at high risk of developing a back pain sooner or later.   Coming to the next, if you are working physically and lifting some weight while your body is in the relaxed position, your muscles may strain and hence you will get a back pain episode. If you are bending awkwardly or for a long period, you will feel the pain as you will develop a muscle sprain. Back pain sometimes develops suddenly for no actual reason. For example, you may wake with back pain and you don’t know what has happened overnight.
Symptoms:

These lower back pain symptoms include any combination of the following:
(1) Difficulty moving that can be severe enough to prevent walking or standing
(2) Pain that also moves around to the groin, buttock or upper thigh, but rarely travels below the knee
(3) Pain that tends to achy and dull
(4) Muscle spasms, which can be severe
(5) Local soreness upon touch

Possible factors:
Overweight: Having additional weight may put pressure on your spine and hence it can trigger a pain. To keep your weight balanced, try to check your BMI fortnightly.
Smoking: Study shows that people who smoke regularly may have more chances to damage back tissues than people who don’t smoke. Also, a nonsmoker lives much healthier lifestyle than a smoker so better is to say goodbye if you smoke.
Medication: If are taking medicines for a long time, there are chances to weaken your bones.
Being pregnant:  The extra weight of carrying a baby may cause an additional strain on your back and hence can cause a back pain.

Medical conditions to diagnose the back pain:
  • If your back pain is associated with numbness, severe pain and tingling sensation that travels down to the lower one leg, it can be a sign of sciatica. 
  • Joint pain including your back and stiffness in walking while waking up in the morning, may be a sign of arthritis
  • Sometimes a lower back pain caused by degenerative disc disease. The discs are like shock-ups of your body or we can say they are shock absorbers. They are situated in the spine in a way that bones can’t rub together. When a disc shrinks or tears, that causes the bones to rub together and this may cause you a pain sensation. This may happen as your age increases.
  • A bulging disk may also trigger pain back sensation. 
  • Traumatic injuries, car accidents can cause you a back pain. 
Other Causes

Back pain can also be caused by medical conditions like:

  •  Arthritis: This is a joint problem that causes stiffness, toughness, swelling, and inflammation that becomes severe if not treated on time.
  • Osteoarthritis: This degenerative joint disease happens when your cartilage [in knees, and other joints] and bones break down. This most often affects people from middle age onward.
  • Ankylosing spondylitis: This is a type of arthritis that affects your joints and ligaments along the spine.
  • Scoliosis or curvature of the spine: This is usually something you have from birth. If there’s pain, it typically starts in mid-life.
If proper care and attention are given, you can relieve from back pain via following some routine and holistic cure methods. If you are an addict of smoking, you need to quit it ASAP as you are not only deteriorating your health but you are also making your back stand alone. Try to do yoga or meditate every day for at least 15-30 minutes and you will see positive vibes coming inside.
